Val Cenis
Enjoy a relaxing holiday amid the beautiful and
majestic setting of the Haute Maurienne on the edge
of the Vanoise National Park. The ancient villages of
Lanslebourg and Lanslevillard together form the resort
of Val Cenis. These unspoilt villages are located at the confluence of two high mountain passes, which are only open for the summer months - the Col d'Iseran from Val d'Isere and the Col du Mont Cenis into Italy.
The unspoilt Haute Maurienne Valley with its ancient villages offers the discerning traveller a rare chance to appreciate the rustic charm and tradition of a bygone age. The natural grandeur of the mountains and glaciers, high above the verdant green valleys contrasts and blends with the pretty stone villages to create a special ambience. For walking and hiking the Haute Maurienne is superb. The summer sightseeing by car along 'La route des Grandes Alpes' offers some of the most spectacular views in Europe.
In the villages you will find a selection of shops, bars, banks and restaurants, which comprise a traditional mountain community, with a friendly and welcoming atmosphere.
