The Site
Les Prairies de la Mer
A perfect spot for that unmistakable
Riviera tan! Directly by the beach, on the sea shore facing
St. Tropez, this beautifully situated campsite looks out across
the clear blue waters of the Mediterranean, with the pine-covered
hills of the Massif des Maures in the background. Port Grimaud
is less than a minute's walk away, and buses to the surrounding
towns and countryside stop just outside the site.
Les Prairies is a modern, large bustling 3 star site in a busy
yet excellent beachside location with lots of facilities. The
sports area is equipped with tennis courts, basketball and volleyball
pitch. One of the beach bars has lively entertainment and the
other bars and restaurants provide a take-away service.
The Resort
Perfectly situated in the heart
of the Côte d'Azur
Port Grimaud is one of the gems
in the sparkling array of resorts that make up the fabulous
French Riviera.
This charming village is built in Provençale style on
a network of canals. It is is very much lived in and you'll
find it as full of character and atmosphere as any village on
the Riviera ... with a typical market too, held twice a week.
Shopping for food in this part of France need not be expensive
- choose from the excellent variety of fruit and veg, local
cheeses and pâtés and the irresistible french bread.
The local restaurants too can also be reasonably priced with
their 'plat du jour' menus.
Inland from Port Grimaud, many picturesque old villages are
perched like eagles' nests on hilltops. Gassin, Ramatuelle and
Grimaud all provide superb views of the Gulf of St. Tropez.
From Port Grimaud, there is a regular boat service to St. Tropez
- perhaps the most famous of all the towns - with its harbour
and colourful artists, its ancient winding streets and alleyways,
pavement cafés and bars, and inviting restaurants.
In both Port Grimaud and St. Tropez, water sports are well to
the fore. You can enjoy water-skiing, sailing, snorkelling and
scuba-diving or just ride about on a pedalo.
